Care at a glance

Water
Water thoroughly when the potting medium is nearly dry, typically once a week or every 10 days; reduce watering significantly in winter to encourage blooming.
Light
Provide bright, indirect light; an east-facing window is ideal, or a shaded south/west window. Avoid direct midday sun which can scorch leaves.
Humidity
A minimum of 50-70% humidity is preferred.
Temperature
Maintain daytime temperatures between 65-75°F (18-24°C) and nighttime temperatures between 55-60°F (13-16°C).
Soil
Use a coarse, well-draining orchid mix, such as fir bark, sphagnum moss, or perlite.
Fertilizer
During the growing season (spring to fall), fertilize every 2-4 weeks with a balanced orchid fertilizer diluted to half strength.
Toxicity
Dendrobium nobile is generally considered non-toxic to pets and humans.
Propagation
Propagate by dividing pseudobulbs (canes) during repotting, ensuring each division has at least 3-4 healthy pseudobulbs and some roots. Keikis (small plantlets) can also be removed and potted when they develop roots.
