AI Disclaimer

Last updated: June 7, 2026

PlantBookOS uses artificial intelligence (collectively, “PlantbookOS” or the “AI Features”) to assist with plant identification, photo-based disease diagnosis, care forecasting, voice transcription, two-way chat, and related guidance. This disclaimer explains how those features work and the limits of what you should rely on them for. By using any AI Feature you accept the terms below in addition to our Terms of Service.

1. Informational guidance only — not professional advice

All output from the AI Features — including identifications, diagnoses, care schedules, treatment suggestions, toxicity notes, and conversational answers from Flora — is provided for general informational and educational purposes only. It is not a substitute for advice from a qualified horticulturist, agronomist, plant pathologist, arborist, veterinarian, physician, poison-control center, or other licensed professional.

2. AI can be wrong

Large language models and computer vision systems make mistakes. They can confidently identify the wrong species, miss a disease, mis-diagnose pests, recommend the wrong watering cadence, or generate text that is plausible but factually incorrect (commonly called “hallucination”). Confidence scores are estimates only and are not a guarantee of accuracy. You must independently verify any AI output before acting on it, especially before:

  • applying any chemical, pesticide, fungicide, or treatment to a plant;
  • ingesting, brewing, smoking, or otherwise consuming any plant or part of a plant;
  • handling a plant in the presence of children, pets, or persons with allergies;
  • selling, gifting, trading, or shipping a plant or cutting to another person;
  • making any health, medical, dietary, or safety decision.

3. No medical, veterinary, or toxicity guarantee

PlantBookOS does not provide medical or veterinary advice. Toxicity, edibility, and allergen information surfaced by the AI Features is sourced from public references and may be incomplete, outdated, or wrong for your specific plant, cultivar, region, or individual sensitivity. If you suspect a person or animal has ingested a toxic plant, contact your local poison-control hotline or emergency services immediately — do not rely on Flora.

4. No liability for AI output

To the maximum extent permitted by law, PlantBookOS, its owners, employees, contractors, affiliates, suppliers, and licensors (the “Released Parties”) accept no liability for any loss or damage of any kind arising from your use of, or reliance on, output produced by the AI Features. This includes, without limitation: dead, damaged, diseased, or lost plants; property damage; lost profits or business; personal injury, illness, allergic reaction, or death; harm to pets or wildlife; regulatory or customs issues from misidentified species; and any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, punitive, or exemplary damages.

You agree to use the AI Features at your own risk and to indemnify and hold the Released Parties harmless from any third-party claim arising from your reliance on AI output.

5. Third-party AI providers

Some AI Features are powered by third-party model providers (for example, model gateways and speech-recognition services). Your prompts, photos, transcripts, and conversation history may be sent to those providers for processing. We do not control their model behavior, their availability, or their accuracy, and we are not responsible for any third-party output. See our Privacy Policy for how we route data.

6. Don't input what you can't share

Do not upload photos, voice clips, or text to the AI Features that contain other people's personal information, copyrighted material you don't have rights to, regulated material, or anything you are not willing to have processed by third-party AI providers.

7. Hands-free / wake-word listening

The “Hey Flora” wake word uses your device's built-in speech recognition. Recognition runs locally on your device, but the utterance captured after the wake word is transmitted to PlantBookOS and our AI providers for processing. Do not enable hands-free Flora in environments where bystanders have not consented to being recorded, or where local law restricts ambient recording. You are responsible for compliance with applicable wiretap, consent, and recording laws in your jurisdiction.

8. Rate limits, cost guardrails, and feature changes

AI Features are metered. We may rate-limit, cap, throttle, change, or discontinue any AI Feature at any time without notice in order to manage cost, quality, or abuse. Free-tier usage is intentionally limited; paid plans are subject to fair-use caps published on the pricing page.

9. Improvements and learning

Flora becomes more useful as you log care, add plants, and have conversations — this is contextual personalization, not model training. We do not use your private photos or chats to train third-party foundation models without your explicit consent. See our Privacy Policy for details.

10. Questions or disputes

Questions: legal@plantbookos.com. Any dispute arising from your use of the AI Features is governed by the dispute-resolution and governing-law terms in our Terms of Service.

This disclaimer is a draft and will be finalized by counsel before public launch. Where local law prohibits any of the limitations above, those limitations apply only to the maximum extent permitted by law.
